Adam on Mutant X

Season 3 of Mutant X is almost over. Adam has appeared several times, and I
read a few months ago he may be returning for season 4. Has anyone heard any
more about this? The show is better with him. Also- why did John Shea leave-
was he fired or did he quit?

I haven't. But, IMO, it is logical (and highly probable) that the show would
rehire John Shea if, as is possible, Vicky Pratt leaves the show.

I'm guessing he was basically let go, due to budget-cutting considerations.
When a main character is let go, then brough back for a limited number of guest
stints in the next season, to me that screams "budget cuts!". John Shea was
probably there most expensive actor when they started the show, and the obvious
guy to 'X' out (pun intended) if the budget is ordered cut.

Considering Tribune Entertainment's target demo, if Pratt left that would be
two strikes against it.

I'll agree with that idea. I wonder if that was also behind the
cutback in their villain? They went from having him show up in almost
every episode to hardly ever showing up. I suppose it could be that
they realized the plot was getting old, and just decided to try some
new ideas.

I'll definitely agree with you there. What's more, according to Karen
Cliche the show is history, so that's a third strike. I doubt very
much if anyone is going to pick it up. So maybe Ms. Pratt can head on
to better work in the future.

Do you have a citation for this? I'd love to take a look at this article
or interview (or whatever) with Cliche where she said this. Because last
anyone heard, "Mutant X" had already been picked up for season #4. If
that's changed, it's fairly recent...

Ian (Though, as I said in the earlier posting, if they do indeed lose
Vicky Pratt, after basing the show almost entirely around her, they
might as well close up shop anyway...)

Not knowing enough about those boards, I don't know whether to believe that
posting really is from Cliche or not. But it doesn't seem iron-clad enough.

For now, I'm sticking with the announcement on the "Mutant X" website about
season #4, until I hear something more official...

It's definitely her. There's been more posts since then that says that
Tribune wants to continue the show so it may not be dead yet. My guess
is that the actor's contracts were up so they've been released, while
Tribune tries to find a way to continue production. If something
doesn't happen within the next month or two it may be possible to
continue the show, but it would probably be without some of the
actors.

Is that what happened with that show? I only seen an episode every so
often, but I noticed on the recent ones that one of the actors is
gone, although he does get mentioned. Maybe they should get the
writers and actors from "The Lost World" to head over to "Mutant-X".
I've always thought the plots might be a bit strange on TLW, but the
writing always seemed decent as did the acting. Something which I
can't say about "Mutant-X"

It's a mess. They ran afoul of new money people and tax break regulations that
made them get rid of regulars that weren't from OZ. Then they got put on hold.
At this point the sets have been in storage for more than a year - hell, one
of the stars got pregnant and had her baby since they last filmed - but people
are still down under working on it.
